About Us
I began cutting out my own paper dolls and clothes for them sometime around that same age. I have always loved dolls, and remember back when I was four years old, my mother hand-made one of my sister's and me each 100 outfits for our Barbies. She used scraps she had from clothing she had made for us - they were the most beautiful little clothes I'd ever seen! She would make little T-shaped "dresses", and taught me how to hand-sew them so I could have clothes for my Barbie that I'd made myself! As I got older, I took home-economic classes, and started out making clothes, purses and other accessories for myself. In my early twenties, I had two children, and made most of their clothes, and while out shopping for fabric one day, I inquired at Cloth World about sewing their display clothes. From there, they sent me customers for custom orders on special occasion dresses to business suits. After much encouragement from family and friends, I began LiTTLe SiSTeR's DoLLs in 1985. My dolls are OoAK ( One of A Kind) Primitive and Folk Art dolls of all kinds.
I get a picture in my head of a doll or animal I want to try to make, draw it out on paper, and if it doesn't turn out like what I've pictured, it goes in the trash and I start all over again. Each doll is thought out and made one at a time to give a personality and style unique to itself. They come signed and dated by me.
My dolls are made from muslin, osnaburg or heavy cotton fabric, then dressed in vintage fabrics, quilts and trims. Most of the dolls have needle felted sheep's wool for their hair, for a more realistic look. I like them to have a well-loved, time-worn appearance to them. I put a lot of love and detail into each one to bring you quality dolls at a very reasonable price.
I have a line of patterns, some of which I put on my website, and also on Pattern Mart, where you get them instantly upon payment.
The facial features on my dolls are all drawn by me with pencil water color and acrylic paints. I seal them to prevent fading or smearing. I try to give each doll their own personality through their eyes. If making a Special Order for one of my dolls, please include eye and hair color desired.
I have started a line of doll clothes and doll accessories, including varying types of shoes in the very near future, so please check back for those items.
Please email me with any questions you might have regarding special orders for that unique doll for yourself, or for someone very special.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope that you find something to your liking, and if you don't see something that you are looking for, just send me an email and we'll see what I can come up with for you!
